The new Bosnia and Herzegovina Law on Accounting and Auditing will, inter alia, put in place a uniform set of international accounting and auditing standards.

The adoption of clear standards for accounting purposes is essential for transparent financial reporting.

The High Level Committee on Management has approved a project for the development of such accounting standards within the United Nations system.

The recent establishment of the National Lawyers Association, the National Doctors Association and the National Accountancy Association speak directly to this unequal treatment.

With the convergence of the U.S. GAAP and the international IFRS accounting systems, as the highest authority over International Financial Reporting Standards, the International Accounting Standards Board is becoming more important in the United States.

Standards for national and international statistics are to be developed on the basis of sound professional criteria, while also meeting the test of practical utility and feasibility.

Government owned reporting agencies have also been established in a number of countries, including Bangladesh, Bolivia and Nigeria.18 Efforts to upgrade accounting and disclosure standards have also been undertaken in some countries.
