The institutions of the European Union are the seven principal decision making bodies of the European Union.

But EU institutions have not been entirely inactive.

Institutions are different from agencies of the European Union.

But Germany s Constitutional Court can judge whether the actions of EU institutions are compatible with its constitution and the European Union treaties.

Thus, the central European Union institutions, along with the International Monetary Fund, have an important role to play in stabilization and the transition to sustainable growth.

The European Central Bank will serve as the eurozone s center of power even more than it does today, because it is the monetary union s only institution that can actually act.
