Since its establishment in 2001, the CRIC has met twice at sessions held between ordinary sessions of the COP (CRIC 1, which took place in Rome, Italy from 11 to 22 November 2002 and CRIC 3, which took place in Bonn, Germany from 2 to 11 May 2005) and once during a COP sessions (CRIC 2, which took place during the sixth session of the COP in Havana, Cuba from 26 to 29 August 2003).

The European Union attaches particular importance to the implementation of the recommendations of the Commission on the Truth.

Review of the terms of reference, operations and schedule of meetings of the CRIC

The third session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 3), convened pursuant to decision 1 COP.5, was officially opened in Bonn, Germany, on 2 May 2005, by Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould El Ghaouth, Chairperson of the CRIC.

(a) The delays in the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the establishment of the Assessment and Evaluation Commission

COPAZ has also been discussing implementation of the recommendations of the Commission on the Truth.

The terms of reference of the CRIC are contained in decision 1 COP.5.

The three organizations decided to form a support committee to assist them in implementing the project.

By the same resolution the Council established a Committee to monitor the implementation of the sanctions.

(b) The implementation of resolutions of the Commission on Human Rights and the General Assembly with regard to the right to development

Decision 1 COP.5 and its annex on the terms of reference of the CRIC

The Ministry of Education created an internal Committee for Human Rights to contribute to the implementation of the PNEDH.

A National Gender Plan of Action (1998 2003) was launched in 1998 by the then Department of Women Affairs in the Office of the President.

The National Elections Commission has commenced consultations on the implementation of its role and a nationwide assessment of its facilities.

The Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention was convened under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould El Ghaouth (Mauritania).

A forest reform monitoring committee will be established to monitor the implementation of the reform programme.

110. The question of implementing the recommendations of the Commission on the Truth has given rise to controversy and remains outstanding.

D. Implementation of other proposals made at the UNCITRAL Congress

The Committee against Torture was set up under the Convention to monitor the implementation by the States parties of the prohibition of torture.

A special rapporteur has been appointed within the framework of the Commission for Social Development to monitor the implementation of the Standard Rules.

The Population Commission could be renamed the Commission on Population and Development , and monitoring of the implementation of the Programme of Action could be added to its mandate.

(b) The implementation of resolutions of the Commission on Human Rights and the General Assembly with regard to the right to development

The establishment is needed of a follow up commission that would be in charge of implementing and monitoring strategies aimed at fighting climate change.
