DPI worked closely with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations to ensure that the Chief of Information and an information officer both DPI staff members were in Haiti in advance of the first day of the mandate.

The Payroll Unit is already working with the Staff Administration Unit to follow up with former staff to determine the validity of the accrual of the repatriation grant.

In addition, the UNMISET police component has put in place a new database to improve the personnel management systems of the national police.

UNHCR, UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the related UNMISET units continue to support ongoing Government efforts to combat the trafficking of persons to, through and from Timor Leste through an inter agency counter trafficking working group, which is chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The role of the Department of Safety and Security, in that regard, will be to ensure that the appropriate safety programmes, based on United Nations experience and operational needs, are in place and effectively discharged by the best qualified safety personnel.
