To ensure that the Department of Peacekeeping Operations submits the consolidated acquisition plan to the Procurement Service by 1 June of each financial year, the Department has an internal goal of submitting all acquisition plans to the Procurement Service by 15 May.

The Global Fund, the World Bank and other parts of the UN system, and other multilateral institutions and international partners will engage in a process to identify procurement and supply management bottlenecks, and to agree upon concrete steps for the harmonization and alignment of procurement and supply management policies and procedures.

In the area of procurement and contract management, UNDP is committed to the four high priority recommendations of the Board.

This was a collaborative project involving The Scottish Parliament, International Teledemocracy Centre and the Bundestag Online Services Department .

The global access control project, under the leadership of the Department of Safety and Security, dealt mainly with situations at locations away from Headquarters.

Adaptation to climate variability will be the only way forward in many destinations that are currently prime holiday spots.

Audits of the UNHCR emergency operations in Burundi, Chad and the Sudan identified a need to improve procurement and general management.

These exist, or will be opened, where there is a high volume of operations and demand potential such units will be almost autonomous in managing daily operations, with decision making and support functions (procurement, ICT, human resources and financial management) devolved to the country level.

UNICEF notes however that the Department of Safety and Security is managing a project to consolidate crisis management within the United Nations system and that the operations centre will participate fully in that project.
