Good morning everyone. First of all, it's been fantastic being here over these past few days.

I'd like to pause my TEDTalk for about 10 seconds right now, because you don't get many opportunities in life to do something like this, and my parents are sitting in the front row.

And that's a lot harder for me, because as honored as I am to be here with all of you right now, this is not my natural milieu.

So here goes my attempt at disrupting the discourse with ten reasons why I try to be a peaceful parent 1.

By the time I step down from here there will be 10 people who have lost their lives through a completely, completely preventable problem.

So, my message to you folks, from my three minutes, is that I appreciate the chance to share this with you. I will be back. I love being at TED.
