9.105 Post requirements are proposed at the maintenance level.

Non post requirements, at the maintenance level of 33,800 would cover travel of staff ( 21,100) maintenance of office automation equipment ( 9,200) and replacement of data processing equipment ( 3,500).

14.42 The requirements, at the maintenance level of 1,515,500, would provide for the continuation of five posts.

A major part of the budgetary requirements in the field offices is kept at the maintenance level.

The unspent balance of 20,000 is attributable to lower requirements under the maintenance of information technology equipment.

A major part of the budgetary requirements at headquarters is kept at the maintenance level. Variances are explained below.

Requirements were also lower than anticipated under maintenance services for laundry, catering, waste disposal and for perimeter fencing and gates.

The additional requirements of 2,600 relate to the acquisition of three laptops purchased during the period for the training sessions offset by lower requirements for the maintenance of information technology equipment.

The decreased requirements also reflect lower than projected requirements under (a) rental and maintenance of premises ( 56,000) (b) miscellaneous services ( 5,400) (c) freight related costs ( 36,500) and (d) third party liability insurance ( 16,300).

Because the Commission did not support the specific proposal, the requirements for the maintenance of ProFi are now fully budgeted under infrastructure.

14.25 Non post requirements for travel of staff ( 28,600), rental and maintenance of office and data processing equipment ( 60,300), communications ( 6,200), supplies and materials ( 6,400) and office automation equipment ( 15,100) are proposed at the maintenance level.

The requirements for training provide for the training of 99 Mission personnel in the maintenance period from 1 July to 31 December 2005.

As was indicated in paragraph 15 above, non staffing requirements for the maintenance of ProFi estimated at 465,200 are provided for under infrastructure.

Requirements for production and recurrent maintenance for 2006 2007 would amount to 58.6 million (including 4 million for computer equipment outside New York), mostly reflecting the mainstreaming of the maintenance cost of investment projects approved for 2004 2005.

(j) Issuance of laissez passer and other travel documents, provision of official travel, shipment, related insurance requirements, and operation and maintenance of transportation facilities

Extrabudgetary resources are also derived from various sources of funding of Secretariat wide requirements for the rental and maintenance of premises, telecommunications services and travel services.

The provision also reflects requirements for the rental of vehicles pending acquisition of new vehicles, repairs and maintenance, liability insurance, spare parts and petrol, oil and lubricants necessary for the operation and maintenance of all vehicles and 10 workshops throughout the Mission area.

27.30 The amount of 2,307,500, at the maintenance level, provides for (a) the continuation of 10 posts ( 1,998,300) and (b) non post resources ( 309,200) to cover other operational requirements.

Taking into account its recommendations in paragraph 16 above, the Committee recommends that the estimated budget requirements of 46,328,400 for the maintenance of the Mission be reduced by 686,600.

Non post provisions primarily reflect increases related to requirements for communications and maintenance of equipment, as well as the replacement of the vehicle allocated to the office in Nairobi.

1.36 The amount of 2,111,300 provides, at the maintenance level, for the salary and allowances of the Secretary General, travel requirements, general operating expenses, hospitality and furniture and equipment.

Maintenance

The non post requirements of 252,000, at maintenance level, would cover (a) general temporary assistance and overtime ( 185,800) to mitigate peak periods of work and (b) banking transaction costs ( 66,200).

The increased requirements relate to the procurement and maintenance of 65 desktop computers and 41 portable computers to be used by the additional civilian and police personnel and the staff officers.

II, Infrastructure 2004 2005 , para. 15), the Commission agreed with the Advisory Committee's recommendation. The Committee notes that the requirements for the maintenance of ProFi are now fully budgeted under infrastructure.

The non post additional requirements of 19,900 relate to accommodation of the above new posts, including 10,300 for acquisition and replacement of office automation equipment, related equipment maintenance ( 6,600) and supplies ( 3,000).

The network and telecommunication resource requirements for the new building will be included in the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2008 2009 under the section entitled Construction, alteration, improvement and major maintenance.

The requirements for the United Nations Office at Vienna for these physical upgrades are included under section 32, Construction, alteration, improvement and major maintenance of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2006 2007.

(k) Maintenance costs 2,000.

This includes communications, disaster recovery maintenance, data backup, network administration, and maintenance of hardware and software.

It provided for resource requirements for the maintenance of the Mission and the maximum deployment of 260 military observers, 10,339 military contingents, 150 civilian police, 336 international staff, 556 national staff and 147 United Nations Volunteers.
