However, pursuant to section XI of General Assembly resolution 59 276 of 23 December 2004, the activities relating to security and safety now fall under section 33, Safety and security.

Section 18 relates to public signs and posters concerning health or public safety.

The Department informed the Board that safety was of prime importance in the Transport Section.

The safety of United Nations personnel is further discussed in section IX of this report.

OIOS is pleased to note that following its recommendation, the Security and Safety Section has revised and updated the security plan.

The projects relating to the safety and security of United Nations premises in all main locations proposed under this section will be implemented in close coordination with the Department of Safety and Security.

The full costs of the Security and Safety Section at Vienna are presented in table 33.14 and explained in paragraph 33.27 below.

In line with General Assembly resolution 59 267 (XI) of 23 December 2004, those activities have been subsumed by the Department of Safety and Security and are now reflected under section 33, Safety and security.

Exceptionally high vacancy rates in section 10, Least developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing States, section 11, United Nations Support for the New Partnership for Africa's Development, and section 36, Safety and security, are explained in paragraphs 30 and 31 of the performance report.

Views were expressed that section 33, Safety and security, of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2006 2007, should be revised as follows

94. The Engineering Support Section is composed of a Generator Unit, an Electrical Unit, a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Unit and a Fire Inspection and Engineering Safety Unit.

This Section handles all support matters related to transportation, including aircraft and ship leasing, rental of transportation equipment, movement of personnel or equipment and safety of charted aircraft.

Since 1 January 2004, the Maritime Safety Division of the IMO Secretariat has been re organized and re structured in a manner which has led to the establishment of a dedicated Maritime Security Section under the Sub Division for Operational Safety, Security and Human Element.
