To further the integration of persons with disabilities in society, Bahrain adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote the rights and equal opportunities of persons with disabilities, with special emphasis on the needs of women with disabilities.

In 2004, Multilateral Framework for Labour Market Agreements for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD) replaced the Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities initiative.
