The Family Support for Children with Disabilities Act came into effect August 1, 2004.

Amendments to the Education Act have seen the prohibition of discrimination against children with disabilities.

On June 13, 2005, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (Bill 118), came into force.

Under the Employment Equity Act, First Nations are a designated group , along with women, visible minorities, and people with physical or mental disabilities.

In the United States, some early intervention services to eligible children and families are federally mandated through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

In the United Kingdom, the Equality Act 2010 requires organizations and businesses to make adjustments to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Regarding supports for persons with disabilities, in June 2004, the Safety Codes Act was amended to include provisions for barrier free access and design.

Income support is provided to individuals with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities, intellectual disabilities and psychosocial disabilities by 58.8, 51.8, 56.1, and 44.7 per cent, respectively, of the countries that responded.

In 2004, this Committee produced the report Tax Measures for Persons with Disabilities, and in 2005, the federal government committed to act on virtually all of the report's recommendations.

Included in this Act for the first time are non discriminatory provisions based on disability and giving equal opportunity for children with disabilities to be included in the education system.

It affords similar protections against discrimination to Americans with disabilities as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, and other characteristics illegal.

In 2005, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 came into force in Ontario and provides for enforceable accessibility standards in the areas of goods, services, facilities, accommodation and employment.

Under the National Disability Strategy and the Disability Act 2005, special services would be provided to persons with disabilities, including women, and their access to mainstream public services would be improved.

In Romania, representatives of organizations of persons with disabilities participate in the National Council for Disabilities.

In the United States, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), revision of 2008 effective in January 2009, is a wide ranging civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability.

(c) Providing training in mobility skills to persons with disabilities and to specialist staff working with persons with disabilities

In 2004, the National Assembly began revising legislation affecting persons with disabilities, in particular the Act to secure handicapped persons in the exercise of their rights with a view to achieving social, school and workplace integration, to promote the creation of training and information programs that would improve the academic, professional and social integration of persons with disabilities.

(c) Take effective measures to collect adequate and disaggregated statistical data on children with disabilities and use such data in developing policies and programmes to prevent disabilities and to assist children with disabilities

In Cyprus, persons with disabilities participate in the Pancyprian Council for Persons with Disabilities, administrative councils and ad hoc committees.

To further the integration of persons with disabilities in society, Bahrain adopted a comprehensive strategy to promote the rights and equal opportunities of persons with disabilities, with special emphasis on the needs of women with disabilities.

In 2004, Multilateral Framework for Labour Market Agreements for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD) replaced the Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities initiative.
