A Breach in the Eurozone Dike

1820 January 23 This flood inundated large parts of the Alblasserwaard, after a number of dike breaches.

As the centuries went by, they eventually constructed an extensive dike system that covered the coastline and the polders, thus protecting the land from further incursions by the sea.

St. Lucia's flood (Sint Luciavloed) was a storm tide that affected the Netherlands and Northern Germany on 14 December 1287 (the day after St. Lucia Day) when a dike broke during a storm, killing approximately 50,000 to 80,000 people in the sixth largest flood in recorded history.

Because as soon as you hear the word Dutchman which is an archaic word, nobody calls Dutch people Dutchmen anymore but as soon as you hear Dutchman, you get this picture of the kid with his finger in the dike, preventing the thing from falling and flooding Holland, and so on.
