Other classification schemes may be in use more locally, for example the Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders.

Such a review should be undertaken for economic classifications including the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, the Central Product Classification, the Standard International Trade Classification, the Classification by Broad Economic Categories and the classifications of expenditure according to purpose.

One of the main difficulties in monitoring achievements in the system was that not all data collected were comparable, owing to differing methods of staff classification.

Both databases will continue to treat the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) as a primary commodity classification for data collection and data processing purposes.

The correspondence table between the Central Product Classification and the Extended Balance of Payments Statistics will be revised in line with the revisions and clarifications arising from the revision of the System of National Accounts, the Balance of Payments Manual and the Central Product Classification revision.
