57 8. Open ended Panel of the General Assembly on Afghanistan one year later

Taking note of the summary by the President of the General Assembly of the open ended panel of the Assembly on commodities,A 58 615, annex.

A panel discussion will be organized jointly in the course of the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.

I issued a report (A 59 354) in September 2004 in response to the report of the Panel. I commended the report of the Panel to the attention of the General Assembly and made specific recommendations on how it could be implemented.

4. Invites the Commission to comment on the findings and recommendations of the panel and to submit its comments to the General Assembly at its fifty ninth session, to be considered by the Assembly together with the report of the Secretary General.

The General Assembly also welcomed an offer from Bhutan to convene a panel discussion on the theme of happiness and well being during its 66th session, which opens this month.

The forthcoming General Assembly, for which preparations are in progress, will focus on the recommendations of the Panel of Eminent Persons on United Nations Civil Society Relations (the Cardoso report ).

In paragraph 47 of the resolution, the Assembly decided that the Secretary General should form a panel of external and independent experts to consider redesigning the administration of justice system.

He cooperated with the Panel and provided all records the Panel requested. LPRC was one of the very few organizations that submitted full and complete information to the Panel.

The panel shall be composed of an appropriate number of panel members determined by the Executive Board.
