(d) Latin America and the Caribbean Within this region, the components aiming at production and export capacity building, i.e. investment and technology promotion, private sector development and agro industries, will be of particular relevance to the Andean countries and Central America.

Emphasis will be placed on entrepreneurship development (with special focus on rural and women's entrepreneurship), the development of horizontal and vertical SME networks for ensuring job creation and income generation, and the strengthening of agro based and agro related industries.

(e) Europe and the NIS The region has a significant potential for developing the agro industrial sector.

In turn, this can spur sustainable non farm employment growth in services, agro processing, and small scale manufacturing.

Agro ecology points to solutions, but strong support from governments is needed to scale up existing best practices.

Since most plantations use harmful agro chemicals, the children working on them are directly exposed to these threats.

Many of the geographically disadvantaged countries suffer from adverse agro climatic conditions and are susceptible to natural disasters.

(c) Support to traditional agro industries to improve their productivity and increase their integration into global value chains

The zones could combine integrated rural development for domestic consumption and labor intensive manufacturing and agro businesses for export.

Another important thematic area to be covered involves the enhancement of rural community livelihoods through efficient agro supply chains.

Using land that cannot support conventional agriculture, pastoralists and agro pastoralists produce meat, milk, and livestock products that sustain millions.

Measures of agricultural policy should encourage amalgamation of property to allow for application of updated agro techniques and higher yields.

Since that growth would inevitably be based on agro processing, industrial development was the key to Malawi's socio economic development.

In agriculture, small farmers would be placed on a collision course with US agro business and their heavily subsidized farm exports.

(b) Capacity building at the institutional and industry levels to enhance industrial productivity and marketing performance in the agro industrial sector

As concerns this axis, women's interest mainly focused to measures 7.6 and 7.9 (agro tourist) where their participation's percentages reached 37 .

Overview The wild relatives of crop plants constitute an increasingly important resource for improving agricultural production and for maintaining sustainable agro ecosystems.

Special emphasis is given to various agro industrial subsectors and to strengthening private sector organizations, such as chambers of commerce and industry.

Thus, this programme component impacts not only urban agro industries, but has a strong outreach to poor and marginalized rural population groups.

(b) Support to rural development through the revival and generation of agro industries and resumption of supply of industrial inputs to agriculture

The most sustainable means of doing that was to encourage industrial development, particularly in agro processing and minimization of post harvest losses.
