The Québec Court of Appeal ruled that the distinction made between workers who were not social assistance beneficiaries and those participating in the STM was not based on the ground of social condition. The terms of participation in the STM did not violate beneficiaries' human dignity.

Lambert v. Québec (Procureur général) involved a social assistance beneficiary registered in the Stages en milieu de travail (STM) internship program.

The First Nations Training Corps, which is now part of the Workplace Diversity Employment Office, has been substantially expanded to meet the demand for training.

TrainForTrade

These national organizations provide training, tutor certification, and accreditation for local volunteer programs.

The level of training varies widely, from basic military training to Ranger school.

The training capacity comprises four departments the Training Department Infantry at Arlon, the Training Department Armour Cavalry at Leopoldsburg, the Training Department Artillery at Brasschaat and the Training Department Engineers at Namur.

The total training resources requested for 2005 06 for the Training and Evaluation Service amount to 2,100,000 (including 1,463,000 for training related travel, and 637,000 for training fees, supplies, services and equipment).

Furthermore, 109 field coaching officers, who would take over mentoring activities following the withdrawal of UNAMSIL, and some 150 training instructors have been trained.
