Page 91 of Mr. Martínez Ramírez' case file describes the taking of handwriting samples on 11 July 2002 in the presence of his defence lawyer and the prosecutor.

In 2003 and 2004, with the support of the SPM, 100 of the public defenders and staff in the State of Paraíba Public Defender's Office were trained in this area.

The author provides further details of the Public Defender's recommendation to the Supreme Court that his sentence be overturned, quoting 4 extracts which address apparent flaws in the evidence on which he was convicted, and other evidence which pointed to his innocence.

The Advisory Committee notes that the requirements under contractual services, essentially used for defence counsel fees, would increase considerably, by 3,022,400, despite the savings expected from the implementation of the lump sum payment scheme.
