Today my country, Paraguay, is becoming a nation in a predictable situation and one worthy of international trust.

My delegation cannot resist drawing an analogy between today's important topic and Antarctica.

The topic of today's thematic debate, disarmament machinery, is of very great interest to my delegation.

Those are my delegation's observations preliminary to, as I said earlier, a more comprehensive and exhaustive report on my Government's views.

My country, Malawi, has followed closely the debate on the report.

My delegation had no choice but to abstain.

Mr. Savua (Fiji) My delegation would like to thank you, Mr. President, for convening this important meeting today.

Mr. Kumalo (South Africa) My delegation wishes to thank the Secretary General for his reports on the items we are discussing today.

I love my motherland.

I negotiated for my country the resolution in the Security Council of the 12th of September 2001 condemning the attacks of the day before, which were, of course, deeply present to us actually living in New York at the time.

The President I wish to remind all speakers, as my Foreign Minister indicated this morning, to limit their statements to no more than five minutes in order to enable the Council to carry out its work expeditiously.

There has been mention of the withdrawal of my country from the NPT and its possession of nuclear weapons.

The title reads Daraya Rests.

I convey to the President of the General Assembly, my country's thanks for creating good conditions to discuss the Organization's future.

My country has previously expressed its opposition to the construction of the separation barrier in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Nobody forgets my country.

In conclusion, the Secretary General's report (S 2005 335) and the Special Representative's technical assessment contained in its annex I give cause for qualified optimism.

My delegation associates itself with preceding speakers in expressing its appreciation to the Secretary General for his report (S 2005 335).

My delegation, however, has no difficulty expressing its views on the formal record of this Conference.

On behalf of my delegation, I would like to commend the Secretary General for his dedication in producing his report (A 59 2005).

My delegation also associates itself with the statement delivered by His Excellency the Ambassador of Ethiopia on behalf of the Group of 21.

My country expects that our discussion today will lead to the adoption of a carefully balanced approach that will facilitate the advancement of the goal of building a politically stable, multi ethnic and prosperous Kosovo, in full conjunction with resolution 1244 (1999).

My delegation extends its sincere appreciation to Denmark for the non paper on post conflict peacebuilding (S 2005 316, annex), which provides a sound basis for today's discussion.

Mr. Kapoma (Zambia) My delegation wishes to take this opportunity to thank the Secretary General for his informative reports on the agenda items we are discussing today.

I shall now make a statement on behalf of my own country, Malaysia.

The promotion of development, as well as the concepts of the responsibility to protect and human security, are also key elements for my country.

I also express to the ruling family and the people of the Principality of Monaco my country's deepest sympathies on the passing of Prince Rainier III.

Lastly, I would like to say that my country welcomes the statement made by the Russian Federation in the framework of the last General Assembly, which it referred to here today, that it would not be the first country to deploy weapons of any kind in outer space.

We in Serbia and Montenegro appreciate those efforts very much, despite the occasional strong assessments critical of my country, as demonstrated in her briefing today.

It goes without saying, Mr. President, that your efforts to guide us in this direction have my delegation's fullest support.

I also wish to express my delegation's support for the statements made by their Excellencies the Ambassadors of China and the Russian Federation.

Having a telephone in my country was a huge luxury.

When Bulgaria joined the European Union this past January, I believed that my country had finally left its repressive past behind.

Well I'm in love with my country's historical heritage.

I think I united a nation, and I just love where I come from.

My delegation sees two key areas.

That is why I would like to associate my country's voice with the call for justice and equity in seeking sustainable solutions to problems arising from the multilateral trade system.

Let me begin, Mr. Minister, by conveying the regrets of your counterpart, my Foreign Minister, Ms. Aïchatou Mindaoudou, who, despite the best of intentions, was unable to come to New York to participate in today's meeting.
