The right to pension and disability insurance

Rights to pension or disability insurance are acquired and exercised under conditions stipulated by law.

In Republika Srpska, the right to pension is achieved at the age of 55 (man), that is, at the age of 50 (woman).

The right to pensions and disability insurance is considered one of the basic social rights and social security elements for citizens.

A disability pension following illness or injury not related to work is calculated by the appropriate percentage of base pension, pension seniority, gender of the insured and the calendar year in which the right to a pension would be implemented.

Gross pension Gross pensionable salaries have been derived through the application of staff assessment to net pensionable salaries.

Retirement pension

The rights to a pension and disability insurance are provided for in accordance with the law for insured persons by employers and the State.

In case of disability caused by illness or an injury outside of work, disability pension is determined as an adequate percentage of the pension principle, depending on the length of the pension service, insured party's gender, and the calendar year in which the right to pension is exercised.

F. Review of pensionable remuneration

Contributions towards pension are the same for both sexes.

For the exercising of the right related to the pension and disability insurance, as well as determined needs and interests in the area of that insurance, two entity funds for pension and invalid insurance have been established.

E. Pension payments to former Secretaries General

In order to carry out rights to pensions and disability insurance, two Entity funds for pension disability insurance were formed.

The amount of the Spanish pension in 1995 was 62,174 pesetas (373.67 euros) and the amount of the Swiss pension was 578 Swiss francs, both per month.

All women, and as far as the usage of the pensions of marital partners goes, both men and women, have the right to a family pension after the death of their marital partner if they fulfill a condition determined by law.

Rights concerning pension disability insurance

The non pensionable component has been established at 0 per cent.

Gross pensionable salary is the basis for determining Pension Fund contributions under article 25 of the Regulations of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund and for determining pension benefits.

Persons voluntarily insured on the basis of their agricultural activity, acquire the right to a disability pension if disability was caused by an injury at work or a professional related health condition, regardless of the length of pension seniority.

(a) Increasing number of retirements and increased longevity

If married life had lasted 25 years or more, then the amount of pension of the widowed person is allocated to the widowed person and the divorced person at 60 and 40 respectively.

The extent of this right depends, as a rule, on the length of the pension service and the salary that the insured party earned during their work span, that is, on the principle onto which the contribution for pension and disability insurance was paid.
