Acknowledge the efforts undertaken by affected country Parties, donor countries and multilateral organizations to combat desertification

Multilateral treaties with neutral parties must clearly stand on a different footing from treaties between parties all of whom have been engaged in the war.

Positive feedback was given on in depth reviews (IDR) of Annex I Parties' national communications, inventory reviews and support for non Annex I Party national communications.

In particular, the report provides information on the development of the ITL and the facilitation of cooperation among registry system administrators (RSAs) through the planned RSA Forum.

Decisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties at its second meeting

This compendium of draft decisions forwarded for adoption to the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol at its first session (COP MOP 1) has been prepared by the secretariat to assist Parties in preparing for the session.

Objective 4 of the North West Pacific Action Plan (NOWPAP) also refers to tourism specifically, and tourism is also mentioned in decisions, recommendations and plans adopted by the Parties to various other multilateral environmental agreements.

It consolidates the texts of all draft decisions that have been recommended by the Conference of the Parties (COP) for adoption by the COP MOP at its first session.

Separate provisional agendas for COP 11 and for COP MOP 1 will be prepared by the secretariat, in agreement with the President of the COP.

The secretariat will continue to provide its best, impartial advice to Parties, especially to presiding officers, to implement its work programme pursuant to guidance from the Convention process, and to develop innovative and creative options to help Parties address issues in the intergovernmental process.

It cooperates with the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to ensure that guidance by the COP and the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP MOP) is followed, and monitors the effectiveness of the financial mechanism and the management of funds established under the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol.

Figure 1 illustrates the numbers of Parties that reported measures in the various sectors and the names of the Parties are indicated in table 4.

Parties to the Protocol will contribute to both, whereas those Parties that have not ratified the Protocol will contribute to the Convention only.

Such information shall be supplied to bodies agreed upon by the Parties.

Box 2. Examples of financial resources required by Parties

The recent world conflict presented for the first time on a large scale the problem of multilateral treaties all the parties to which were belligerents.

Since then, the COP has provided guidance to the GEF in accordance with the MOU, and the GEF has reported to the COP on how it has implemented the guidance provided by the COP.

Decisions for adoption by the COP MOP would include previously agreed decisions forwarded by the COP and decisions emerging from the current sessions.

The workshops have served to ensure that the synergistic policies and tools subsequently developed under the respective Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) are demand driven and respond to the needs perceived by the affected country Parties themselves.

The Executive Secretary proposes that all meetings convened by the CDM Executive Board and the committees in addition to the ones mandated by the COP and COP MOP should be financed through supplementary funding.

Integrate the Convention's prohibitions and requirements into their military doctrine as soon as possible.
