With regard to Security Council reform, I want to make two points.

First, as President of the General Assembly, I want to express my deep regret that the outcome document was adopted before some speakers made their statements.

Before I proceed further, I extend sincere condolences to the American people and Government following the tragic deaths and massive destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Finally, I would like to express, on behalf of the Timorese people and on my own account, our sincere gratitude to His Excellency the Secretary General, our friend Kofi Annan, for the support that he has given to our people.

Finally, I would like to express the gratitude of Côte d'Ivoire to the members of the Security Council, troop contributing countries and all who have spoken this afternoon on this issue.

The PRESIDENT I would like to express my sincere thanks to all delegations for their cooperation in the process that has resulted in today's adoption of the agenda.

Allow me also to have a special thought for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which recently struck the Gulf Coast of the United States indiscriminately and with rare violence.

The support and leadership you provided in convening the consultations, and throughout the entire negotiation process, have proved invaluable.

On behalf of my people and my Government, I wish to convey my profound appreciation and gratitude to all those who assisted and sympathized with us and contributed generously to rebuild our country.

I wish also to convey our solidarity to the United States citizens devastated by Hurricane Katrina, who are struggling to recover from the trauma of losing their loved ones and their homes.
