And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

ولما وجدوه قالوا له ان الجميع يطلبونك.

« إلا » لكن فعل ذلك « ابتغاء وجه ربه الأعلى » أي طلب ثواب الله.

to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

اما الذين بصبر في العمل الصالح يطلبون المجد والكرامة والبقاء فبالحياة الابدية.

He said: Shall I seek for you a god other than Allah when He hath favoured you above ( all ) creatures?

To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

اما الذين بصبر في العمل الصالح يطلبون المجد والكرامة والبقاء فبالحياة الابدية.

He said: What! shall I seek for you a god other than Allah while He has made you excel ( all ) created things?

« قال أغير الله أبغيكم إلها » معبودا وأصله أبغي لكم « وهو فضَّلكم على العالمين » في زمانكم بما ذكره في قوله.

And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

وكان الجمع جالسا حوله فقالوا له هوذا امك واخوتك خارجا يطلبونك.

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

فان هذه كلها تطلبها الامم. لان اباكم السماوي يعلم انكم تحتاجون الى هذه كلها.
