Background notes on peacekeeping operations

The UNCTAD secretariat will present background notes on each of the three sectors to facilitate discussions.

Detailed information on international protection developments can be found in the 2005 Note on International Protection.

Each technical note describes the measure in the WTO context and provides information on costs, benefits and implementation issues.

While the project will be aimed at establishing a web based information centre and database, it will nevertheless need to strengthen the networks of journalists and other relevant information providers.

In addition, 45 States have so far provided updates or additional information in response to a request for information contained in a note verbale of March 2005.

In preparing the present report, the High Commissioner sought information from Governments by means of a comprehensive note verbale issued on 3 August 2004.

The objective of the project proposal is to provide information about the present situation of poverty and land degradation in the world and to analyse the inter relationships that exist.

The SBSTA took note of the initial report by the secretariat on the pilot project on networking between the UNFCCC technology information clearing house (TT CLEAR) and national and regional technology information centres (FCCC SBSTA 2005 INF.9).

Up to now, the CTC has no information that the bill has been enacted. The CTC would be grateful to receive an outline of this bill and an indication of when it will become law.

At the thirty sixth session of the Commission, South Africa had presented a background note raising concerns about the manner in which specific national data had been used by international organizations.

The project essentially an electronic encyclopaedia of information on elections provides through the Internet user friendly operationally oriented information on options, detailed procedures, alternative solutions and the administrative and cost implications associated with organizing elections.

The Committee recommended that the Commission request the secretariat to prepare an information note on that subject for the sixteenth session of the Commission.

A note accompanying the addenda states that they complete the record of the Special Adviser on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, but that further information will become available over time.

Responding to a request for information from the Member States, the Secretariat circulated a note on the functioning of that body, including the scope of its agenda.
