German class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy policy now depends once more on the future deployment of class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

Moreover, class='bold'>renewables are still costly.

The reality is that humanity has spent recent centuries getting away from class='bold'>renewables.

International financial institutions, including the World Bank and the regional development banks, should significantly expand their investments in class='bold'>renewables and class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy efficiency and should establish clear objectives for class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>energies in their portfolios.

China s technological capacities in this sector lag behind even other developing nations such as India and Pakistan, and its reliance on coal is one of the greatest threats to the global climate. For now, there is simply no alternative.

More than a half of the Parties stressed the development and promotion of class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

An class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy plus house (also called Plus class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>Energy House, Efficiency Plus House) produces more class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy from class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources, over the course of a year, than it imports from external sources.

When most people think of class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources, they imagine solar panels and wind turbines.

Shifting to class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources will require enormous effort and major infrastructure investment.

First, we must rely on class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources to a greater degree than ever before.

Ministers and Government Representatives support the strengthening of human and institutional capacities for class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>energies.

They class='bold'>share the vision that class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>energies, combined with increased class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy efficiency, will become a most important and widely available source of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy and will offer new opportunities for coopeclass='bold'>ration among all countries.

In 2011, class='bold'>renewables class='bold'>share was actually lower, at 12.99 .

All sources of class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy require large land areas within which to gather relatively large collectors in order to produce meaningful amounts of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy.

Last year, China, Germany, Japan, and India generated more class='bold'>power from class='bold'>renewables than from class='bold'>nuclear for the first time.

In Costa Rica, 92 per cent of class='bold'>power needs are generated by class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources, and the potential is not yet fully utilized.

In the class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy area particular attention is given to the priority services rural class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy for productive use with emphasis on class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy and class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy efficiency .

Together with other class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources such as wind, solar and biomass class='bold'>powerclass='bold'>plants, the electricity supply from class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy amounts to 62.89 of total use in Austria, with the rest being produced by gas and oil class='bold'>power class='bold'>plants.

The most class='bold'>renewables intensive places in the world are also the poorest. Africa gets almost 50 of its class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy from class='bold'>renewables, compared to just 8 for the OECD.

The shift to class='bold'>renewables has been particularly pronounced in the world s major advanced economies.

In recent years many local and foreign companies have been investing in class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

Colombia has hydroclass='bold'>power potential amounting to 25,000 MW and potential from other class='bold'>renewables amounting to 1,200 MW.

The international community must make a much more serious commitment to class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy, efficiency, and other environmentally friendly class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources. A business as usual approach would mean that by 2030 carbon dioxide emissions would be 70 higher than today, and class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy would account for a mere 4 of total class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy usage, up from 2 now.

There have also been decrees to increase forest coverage, promote the class='bold'>rational use of pastureland, prevent desertification and promote the use of class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

Reduction of class='bold'>greenhouse gas emissions through class='bold'>renewable sources of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy, non food production and carbon storage

Yet a new survey shows that Americans believe that the class='bold'>share of class='bold'>renewables in 2035 will be 30.2 .

However, this class='bold'>renewable source of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy as well as most class='bold'>renewables demands large initial investments both in new commercial agricultural enterprises and in biodiesel refineries.

Research on mitigation included research on new class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources and class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy, class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy efficiency, and GHG abatement technologies.

Globally, however, solar and wind are only a small part of total class='bold'>renewables less than 7 in 2010. Hydroclass='bold'>power is a much bigger player, at 17 .

In addition, governments introduced modest subsidies and regulations to encourage conservation and class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

In Brazil, research is a component of several mitigation programmes for conservation of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy and development of new class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources.

As a result, we will have no choice but to add other sources of class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy class='bold'>renewables, yes, but also more class='bold'>nuclear class='bold'>power and unconventional fossil fuels such as oil sands.

Others declare that we must kick the fossil fuel habit and make a mad dash for class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources such as solar or wind class='bold'>power.

Global class='bold'>renewables based electricity geneclass='bold'>ration (mainly hydro and wind, but also solar and biomass) is set to double between 2006 and 2030. In the EU, wind s class='bold'>share in total class='bold'>power geneclass='bold'>ration is set to rise to 14 by 2030, from 2 today, and would account for well over half the total increase in the EU class='bold'>power geneclass='bold'>ration.

But it gets worse, because these models still assume that the EU picks the cheapest class='bold'>renewables to fulfill its requirements.

Although the focus on class='bold'>renewable class='bold'>class='bold'>class='bold'>energy sources is welcome, policies that distort food supply are not. America s subsidies for corn based ethanol contribute more to the coffers of ethanol producers than they do to curtailing global warming.
