The Director extended his appreciation to all current and former members of the Commission who significantly contributed to the preparation of the training material and the delivery of the training course.

A DVD entitled Lessons in Peacemaking has been produced as well and is being shown as part of the training material for the Institute's other training programmes.

The group continued to provide technical advice to Parties on improving their national communications through the effective organization of four hands on training workshops and examination of national communications of non Annex I Parties.

(g) Convening one training workshop on the integration of generic training materials into university curricula

DIP will also review the training materials received from the Ffield before the end of the year.

The SBI noted the importance of developing training materials for the CGE hands on training workshops and expressed its appreciation to the Government of the United States of America for providing financial support.

The training materials along with the methodology on how to utilise these materials have been provided to provincial governments for incorporation in their literacy programmes. These literacy programmes have a focus on women and girls.

For this budget period, the redevelopment of procedures and training material is the key focus the resulting materials will be integrated into the knowledge management system.

In response to the demonstrated demand for training materials, in particular from organizations in developing countries, the Institute expanded its collection of gender training materials to include a mapping of existing programmes and tools a roster of training institutes centres and the identification of gaps needs.

In a discussion on the development of training material, it was stated that training for criminal justice practitioners should be tailored and delivered in a format that was easily accessible.

Update on the hands on training workshops and the development of training materials The CGE conducted hands on training workshops on GHG inventories for the Latin America and the Caribbean region (Panama City, Panama, 25 29 October 2004) and the Asia region (Shanghai, China, 8 12 February 2005), and on V and A assessments for the Africa region (Maputo, Mozambique, 18 22 April 2005), involving 120 national experts from 78 developing countries.

Conclusions The CGE has successfully implemented its activities outlined in its work programme for 2003 2007.

Trainings

At the end of each session, evaluation forms were distributed to the participants to obtain their feedback on the training materials and the trainers and to obtain views on how to improve future workshops.

Galo Carrera and Phil Symonds, who are current members of the Commission, were also present throughout the training course as experts to answer questions in order to complement the delivery of the material and to oversee the lab exercises.

Capacity building (traineeship programme)

Five trainers facilitated the workshop.

This National Level Training Programme is to be implemented by the member countries with the trainers, trained by the Commonwealth, for which Training Manual and other training materials or assistance would be provided by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The Protection Capacity Section compiles and disseminates training materials developed in the field, but does not check their quality, running the risk of inconsistency between local training sessions and a waste of local resources.

Following a decade of work in promoting agricultural cooperative development through a regional network known as the Network for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives in Asia and the Pacific, a training kit was developed.

Training sessions have begun.

The Chairman of the Commission joined the Legal Counsel and the Director of the Division in thanking Mr. Brekke and Mr. Carrera, as well as other members of the Commission who had been involved in the preparation of the training manual and the development of the training material.

As host to the workshop, the Government of the Republic of Korea, through the Korea Energy Economics Institute, also provided financial and excellent logistical support to the workshop.

Most of the participants in those training sessions are women.

There was also a comment that the trainers could have used simple models adapted to African circumstances.

A mock inspection was conducted as part of the course.

The Commission is grateful to the British Government for its support for this training course.

The training needs assessment also helped to identify the strategic training needs of the various ministries and universities with a view to providing them with training activities and eventually technical assistance.

As in the case of the training course in Fiji, participation in the forthcoming training courses would be open to the technical staff of the developing States of the specific region.

The Board also reviewed the implementation of training programmes in the field of protection.
