11. Table 4 shows the gap at 31 December 1993 between the cash available in all peace keeping operations and their total obligations payable, which includes amounts owed to Member States that have contributed troops and or equipment to peace keeping operations.

Comment by the Administration. UNICEF will ensure that payables and receivables are disclosed in the financial statements for the 2004 2005 biennium, in accordance with United Nations system accounting standards.

180. The Board noted from records of the status of reimbursements due from third parties on the basis of recommendations made by local Property Survey Boards that cases remained on files for long periods in some missions without regular follow up to obtain reimbursement.

India, however, welcomed the announcement that one Member State had decided to pay all its arrears to the Mission.

The major part of the amounts owed to India was from closed missions that were in a position of net cash deficit.

In this connection, the Nordic countries stress the importance of reimbursing all the outstanding dues of troop contributing countries without delay.

Field missions have been requested to advise the Field Operations Division of the status of the situation with regard to the collection of surcharges and contributions due from other parties.

They also suggested that member States should pay their dues in the local currency of their countries, through UNDP.
