On 20 November 1959 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a Declaration of the Rights of the Child during the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child principally enshrines children's participation in all matters affecting children.

A child's right to survival and development is the first fundamental principle underlying the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

(g) To ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child and to enhance the activities of the Government in the field of the protection of the rights of children, in particular children involved in armed conflict

The framework for the Government's efforts was the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

OHCHR continues to closely cooperate with UNICEF in the context of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The majority of the national plans of action for children refer to the Convention on the Rights of the Child or to the Concluding Observations of the Committee on the Rights of the Child on the respective country report.

Many of these efforts resulted in the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

In this regard reference is also made to Part VI (C) of the CRC.

Upon becoming a party to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the country had begun to amend legal provisions concerning children.

The Committee on the Rights of the Child has made use of standards and norms on juvenile justice in the course of interpreting relevant provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (General Assembly resolution 44 25, annex).

ELECTION, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 43 OF THE CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD, OF NINE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD, TO REPLACE THOSE WHOSE TERMS ARE DUE TO EXPIRE ON 28 FEBRUARY 2005

As at 1 October 2004, the closing date of the thirty seventh session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, there were 192 States parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We urge all States to incorporate the Convention on the Rights of the Child into national law and to comply with its obligations.

AIHRC continues to conduct workshops on the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, for example, were invoked in proceedings relating to intercountry adoption.

Canada's next report under the Convention on the Rights of the Child will provide additional information on this plan of action.

In the case of Somalia, a specific request is made for ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (resolution 2005 83).

This Act helps to ensure that the right to nutrition enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child is respected in Nicaragua.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child had achieved near universal ratification.

As the first country in Asia and the second country in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Viet Nam has developed and improved legal and institutional frameworks for the promotion and the protection of the rights of the child.

In addition, the Committee recommends that the State party incorporate human rights, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child, into the school curricula at all levels.

Emphasizing that the Convention on the Rights of the Child must constitute the standard in the promotion and protection of the rights of the child, and bearing in mind the importance of the Optional Protocols to the Convention, as well as other human rights instruments,
