As a responsible maritime State, the Republic of Korea will continue to participate actively in the ongoing process of ensuring sound governance of the oceans and seas.

One of the technical tools that requires priority attention is the ecosystem approach in oceans management.

From the institutional point of view, several delegations were of the view that ocean resources were best managed at the national and regional levels.

The European Union attaches the highest priority to improving oceans and fisheries governance, including in areas beyond national jurisdiction.

The ocean contains 97 of the Earth's water, and oceanographers have stated that only 5 of the World Ocean has been explored.

There are emerging technologies throughout the field around oceanography, which we will incorporate into oceanography, and through that convergence, we will transform oceanography into something even more magical.

The ocean tides are magnified by other effects frictional coupling of water to Earth's rotation through the ocean floors, the inertia of water's movement, ocean basins that get shallower near land, and oscillations between different ocean basins.
