Recognise the need for full and accelerated implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women by States parties to the Convention

Individual member States must work towards full implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the elimination of all forms of violence against women, especially the trafficking of women.

Mr. Vitsentzatos spoke about the usefulness of broadening cooperation between international and regional organizations, referred to the European Union as an implementation partner of the United Nations and explained the practices and challenges of this cooperation.

However, gaps still existed in the full implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and other international instruments for the advancement of women.
