As noted previously, such official communication currently takes place through UNEP and FAO official contact points.

Prior to the meeting, the secretariat facilitated the nomination of experts by communicating with official contact points and requesting nominations.

Under agenda item 7, the Conference will consider a proposal for the identification of official contact points for Governments and observers.

Accordingly, the secretariat sends a letter to the official contact points of all new Parties to the Convention, reminding them of this obligation.

Communications sent to UNEP and FAO official contact points, however, often require further transmission to the substantively relevant national entity.

The Conference requested the secretariat to write to Governments asking them to provide contact details for their official contact points for the Rotterdam Convention, and to agree to the posting of those details on the Convention website.
