And it was as if through the standards of my Western life, I hadn't lived up to my full potential.

Finally, my delegation wishes to draw attention to the need to meet the remaining priority standards goals in the economic area.

Following my next technical assessment in May, a comprehensive review of standards is planned to take place in mid 2005.

My delegation agrees with the Secretary General that to ensure its credibility, the monitoring and reporting system must be based on precise and clearly identified standards, and those standards must be established in order to make practice uniform.

Standards. Two standards are proposed.

International standards, including technical standards and sanitary and phytosanitary standards, can also pose an additional challenge to developing countries with regard to accessing international markets.

Notwithstanding those indications of good faith, my Government does not believe that any of the standards has been sufficiently fulfilled.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the U.S. government's standards agency, cooperates with ANSI under a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the United States Standards Strategy.

SDOs are differentiated from standards setting organizations (SSOs) in that SDOs may be accredited to develop standards using open and transparent processes.

The reports on the observance of standards and codes summarize the extent to which countries observe certain internationally recognized standards and codes.

This has included an outstanding personal commitment to standards, and to accelerating standards delivery, on the part of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj.

The tendency to mainstream Western standards is becoming clear.

I would like to express my gratitude for the report of the Secretary General that we have before us today, which contains UNMIK's second quarterly technical assessment of standards implementation in Kosovo.

My delegation welcomes the establishment of the coalition government following the elections of last October and its commitment to continue on the path of reform, to consolidate local institutions and to implement established standards for Kosovo.

In some cases, international industry based SDOs such as the IEEE and the Audio Engineering Society (AES) may have direct liaisons with international standards organizations, having input to international standards without going through a national standards body.
