The temporary staffing requirements included 65 additional temporary posts, 17 international and 30 national, which were budgeted under general temporary assistance, as well as 18 United Nations Volunteers.

The growth represents the additional requirements under general temporary assistance for the additional staffing positions described in paragraph 1.13.

In addition, the budget reflects staffing requirements of 65 additional temporary positions, for 17 international and 30 national staff budgeted under general temporary assistance and 18 United Nations Volunteers.

Based on that projection, the Translation Services actively managed their staffing level, including regular staff, temporary assistance, contractual and off site translation.

It is estimated that this undertaking would require additional resources of general temporary assistance equivalent to two months of staffing at the P 2 level.

Under UNHCR's Protection Surge Capacity Project, by the end of May 2005, 131 deployees had been sent to 35 countries to respond to sudden temporary protection staffing needs since the scheme began in January 2002.

In addition, the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management requires temporary staffing in order to meet increased demand during peak periods, and to meet other needs such as replacement of staff on mission detail, maternity leave or sick leave.

The authorised staffing level is 13 persons.

The abovementioned Act also covers the staffing of the Police Force the staffing quotas are determined by the Government of the Slovak Republic.

Among other things, the Committee recommended that some of the staffing requirements could be accommodated through general temporary assistance and that the regional liaison offices not be established at this stage, but that these matters be revisited in the light of experience.
