Technical standards, including standards at the international level, are also being discussed (including definitional questions of technical and international standards, and how harmonization with international standards should be linked to the fulfilment of the objectives of VI.4).

Private standards and technical regulations, set by major importers, supermarket chains, etc., will gain in importance, and will be more stringent than national or regional standards and technical regulations.
