This intergovernmental meeting reviewed population trends and population related policies in the context of social and economic trends in the ECE region and adopted a far reaching set of recommendations, including those on future international cooperation in the population field.

From the analysis of the national reports, eight different combinations of trends in population growth were identified across those two decades.
