Progress towards the equalization of opportunities for persons with disabilities

35.2 Amounts withheld in the form of staff assessment are revenue to the Organization, which, to the extent not otherwise disposed of by specific resolution of the General Assembly, is credited to the Tax Equalization Fund for the purposes envisaged in Assembly resolution 973 A (X) of 15 December 1955.

Equalization of opportunities for all is the central theme of both the World Programme of Action and the Standard Rules.

Recalling also its resolutions on the Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities,Resolution 48 96, annex.

The other important advantage of the above mentioned access techniques is that they require less complexity for equalization at the receiver.

While some data are available on prevention and rehabilitation, there are virtually none on issues related to the equalization of opportunities.

In November 2003, the Council of Ministers enacted the decision on acceptance of standard rules for equalization of opportunities for disabled persons.
