The training needs assessment also helped to identify the strategic training needs of the various ministries and universities with a view to providing them with training activities and eventually technical assistance.

The assessment includes two one week training workshops in each city per year.

In July, the CBTF held a Training Workshop on Integrated Assessment for African Countries in Nairobi, Kenya, for selected African research and training institutions and economic and trade bodies.

Posture assessment has also become quite popular in many practical environments like the personal training and sports conditioning settings.

UNITAR should continue to develop innovative training methodologies, such as e learning and web based interactive platforms, knowledge management and self needs assessment, as well as new approaches in public and private partnerships for training.

These included activities to improve home based group care and the training of teachers, social workers and parents in the assessment of disabled children.

Training is generally seen as an important means of strengthening the capacities of African countries in the area of desertification monitoring and assessment.

A working paper on land degradation (Guidelines for Field Assessment) was made available at the UNU website for training purposes.

In paragraph 62, UNRWA agreed with the Board's recommendation that it (a) develop a comprehensive training plan based on a formalized needs assessment and (b) allocate an appropriate budget allotment based on identified training needs.

The increase in systematic assessment is also a direct result of the Department's efforts to ensure extensive training in audience research and evaluation techniques.

The unspent balance of 68,300 relates to lower actual costs of training resulting from the use of online courses, the customization of the course for change management and to the cancellation of planned impact assessment training owing to staff being engaged in other projects.

A further three thematic evaluations (on computer based training, the Global Assessment Programme on Drug Abuse and the impact of support services on programme delivery) are being undertaken in 2005.

Continued United Nations support will also be required in the area of human rights training and monitoring, as indicated by an internal assessment of professional ethics status within the national police.

To date, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has provided technical assistance under the Global Assessment Programme to over 50 countries in the form of training, situation analysis and network establishment.

Meanwhile, the European Union, in cooperation with MONUC and FARDC, is working on an administrative reform plan for FARDC, including a salary structure and an assessment of training necessary for the various ranks.

The training to be provided to experts, and the subsequent assessment after the completion of the training and or any other means needed to ensure the necessary competence of experts for participation in expert review teams shall be designed and operationalized in accordance with relevant decisions of the COP and the COP MOP.

Following the strategy of United Nations human resources departments, United Nations libraries can help address these issues through leading knowledge management initiatives, coaching and training programmes, running workshops, interviewing, and applying knowledge assessment techniques.

181 In paragraph 106 of its report, the Board recommended that UNU finalize and implement a staff training policy in line with its needs assessment and resources and consistent with the United Nations professional development policy.

Moreover, it is evident that enhanced risk assessment skills, ongoing security training and improved adherence to the minimum operating security standards have instilled greater confidence and capacity to operate safely in areas of higher risk.

Those experts that opt not to participate in the training have to undergo a similar assessment successfully in order to enable them to qualify for participation in expert review teams.

In paragraph 200 of its report, the Board recommended that UNRWA (a) compile, on a periodic basis, a report containing details of all expenses incurred for training purposes as well as an assessment of whether the training objectives and needs have been met and (b) investigate the use of distance learning techniques.

The Scientific Assessment Panel and the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel have subsequently provided more information, and the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel was asked to report annually on n PB use and emissions.

The financing options considered in the report include a one time assessment and a multi year assessment.

Because of this, citizen assessment and governmental transparency are increasingly considered primary components of effective assessment activities.
