Background notes on peacekeeping operations

The UNCTAD secretariat will present background notes on each of the three sectors to facilitate discussions.

Detailed information on international protection developments can be found in the 2005 Note on International Protection.

Each technical note describes the measure in the WTO context and provides information on costs, benefits and implementation issues.

Note by the Secretary General containing the draft provisional agenda for the sixty third session of the Commission, together with information concerning documentation relating thereto.

In paragraph 20, the Board recommended that the Secretariat provide comments on exchange rate fluctuations in the financial report that should accompany the financial statements.

To facilitate the discussion, the UNCTAD secretariat has prepared a background note entitled Methodologies, classifications, quantification and development impacts of non tariff barriers (NTBs) .

In order to facilitate discussion, the secretariat is preparing a background note, which will be circulated as document TD B COM.3 EM.25 2.

Pursuant to that request, on 25 February 2005, a note verbale was sent to Member States inviting them to provide information on the subject.

In addition, 45 States have so far provided updates or additional information in response to a request for information contained in a note verbale of March 2005.

In preparing the present report, the High Commissioner sought information from Governments by means of a comprehensive note verbale issued on 3 August 2004.

At the thirty sixth session of the Commission, South Africa had presented a background note raising concerns about the manner in which specific national data had been used by international organizations.

The Committee recommended that the Commission request the secretariat to prepare an information note on that subject for the sixteenth session of the Commission.

A note accompanying the addenda states that they complete the record of the Special Adviser on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, but that further information will become available over time.

Responding to a request for information from the Member States, the Secretariat circulated a note on the functioning of that body, including the scope of its agenda.
