7.1 Brief summary of the law on nationality in the Niger

Such is the case of the Land Law and that of Nationality that was objects of intense discussion and, thereafter, was approved by Parliament.

Ms. Mboga (Gabon) said that the Act introducing the new Nationality Code had now been adopted.

The Committee is concerned that the Sexual Offences Act of 1995 does not afford the same protection to boys as it does to girls.

Article 9 nationality law and aliens law This section is mainly concerned with aliens policy in relation to women.

This Act guarantees the protection of victims against many types of offences including sexual offences according to the Penal Code.

Moreover, a new law provided that no one could be denied employment on the grounds of sexual orientation.

Has the State party made any progress on changing the Nationality Law to allow Thai women to extend citizenship to their foreign husbands, as recommended by the Committee in its previous concluding comments?

Under the Law on citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the means, conditions and the procedure for the acquiring and terminating of BiH citizenship have been determined.

Ms. Gaspard recalled that Turkey had made a declaration concerning nationality in connection with article 9, paragraph 1, when it had ratified the Convention, and she wondered whether the revision of the Law on Nationality would bring it into line with the Convention.
