However, the programmes covered under Communicable and Non Communicable Diseases, Reproductive Health, Community Health and Preventable Cancers are all relevant issues for women as are the issues contained under the Legislative Policy of the Ministry of Health.

Τhe Ministry of Health and Welfare, putting special emphasis on the role that volunteer, non profit, and non governmental organizations can play in the field of social care and health, and, in order to facilitate their co operation with the public sector, established the Department of Volunteerism and Accreditation of Operators, which belongs to the Directorate of Social Welfare and Solidarity, in November 2000.

In October 2002, WHO launched a World Report on Violence and Health, which described the extent of violence as a global public health problem.

Two major Canadian organizations, being Women's College Hospital (WCH) and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) promote awareness and provide resources that can educate others about mental health pertaining to women.
