Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside,

« فعسى ربي أن يؤتين خيرا من جنتك » جواب الشرط « ويرسل عليها حسبانا » جمع حسبانة أي صواعق « من السماء فتصبح صعيدا زلقا » أرضا ملساء لا يثبت عليها قدم.

Do you then feel secure that He will not cause a tract of land to engulf you or send on you a tornado? Then you shall not find a protector for yourselves.

« أفأمنتم أن يخسف بكم جانب البر » أي الأرض كقارون « أو يرسل عليكم حاصبا » أي يرميكم بالحصباء كقوم لوط « ثم لا تجدوا لكم وكيلاً » حافظا منه.

Then maybe my Lord will give me what is better than your garden, and send on it a thunderbolt from heaven so that it shall become even ground without plant,

« فعسى ربي أن يؤتين خيرا من جنتك » جواب الشرط « ويرسل عليها حسبانا » جمع حسبانة أي صواعق « من السماء فتصبح صعيدا زلقا » أرضا ملساء لا يثبت عليها قدم.

" It may be that my Lord will give me something better than your garden, and will send on it Husban ( torment, bolt, etc. ) from the sky, then it will be a slippery earth.

« فعسى ربي أن يؤتين خيرا من جنتك » جواب الشرط « ويرسل عليها حسبانا » جمع حسبانة أي صواعق « من السماء فتصبح صعيدا زلقا » أرضا ملساء لا يثبت عليها قدم.

thus says Yahweh of Armies; Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that can't be eaten, they are so bad.

هكذا قال رب الجنود. هانذا ارسل عليهم السيف والجوع والوبأ واجعلهم كتين رديء لا يؤكل من الرداءة.

and I will send on you famine and evil animals, and they shall bereave you; and pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword on you: I, Yahweh, have spoken it.

واذا ارسلت عليكم الجوع والوحوش الرديئة فتثكلك ويعبر فيك الوبأ والدم واجلب عليك سيفا. انا الرب تكلمت

when I shall send on them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread;

اذا ارسلت عليهم سهام الجوع الشريرة التي تكون للخراب التي ارسلها لخرابكم وازيد الجوع عليكم واكسر لكم قوام الخبز

" It may be that my Lord will give me something better than thy garden, and that He will send on thy garden thunderbolts ( by way of reckoning ) from heaven, making it ( but ) slippery sand! -
