The Security Council welcomes the briefings by the Chairmen of the Al Qaida Taliban Sanctions Committee established pursuant to resolution 1267 (1999), the Counter Terrorism Committee established pursuant to resolution 1373 (2001) and the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004) on the work of the three Committees.

In that context, the improved possibilities for the inclusion in reports of information gathered within a federal structure and for clearer comparison between reporting States by the treaty bodies, as well as the particular advantages of a coordinated approach to reporting for developing countries were highlighted.

(d) Decision to proceed The treaty body considers the submission of the State party as well as any additional information provided by governmental organizations, the United Nations system, NGOs and individuals, and designates one or more members to conduct the inquiry.

Certain treaty bodies had already interacted with national human rights institutions some had requested information from those institutions during the preparation of lists of issues, during the pre sessional working groups, or in the plenary sessions.

The Council further called on the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1521 (2003) concerning Liberia to seek from all States, particularly those in the subregion, information about actions taken by them to implement effectively, inter alia, the arms embargo.

OHCHR continued to provide information on the working methods of the six human rights treaty bodies serviced by OHCHR for the reports prepared by the Division for the Committee on ways and means of expediting the work of the Committee, a regular item on the agenda of the Committee.

In accordance with Security Council resolution 1566 (2004), the Counter Terrorism Committee will enhance cooperation with the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1267 (1999) concerning Al Qaida and the Taliban, the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004) and the working group established pursuant to resolution 1566 (2004).

2. Encourages each treaty body to continue to give careful consideration to the relevant conclusions and recommendations contained in the reports of the persons chairing the human rights treaty bodies, and in this context also encourages enhanced cooperation and coordination between the treaty bodies

On 25 April, the Security Council held a public meeting at which it was briefed by the Chairmen of subsidiary bodies of the Council, namely the Al Qaida Taliban Sanctions Committee established pursuant to resolution 1267 (1999), the Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC) established pursuant to resolution 1373 (2001) and the Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004).
