I now turn to the matter of the Blue Line separating Israel and Lebanon.

UNIFIL operations remained concentrated along the Blue Line.

There were no instances of anti aircraft fire across the Line during this period.

The two UNIFIL battalions, provided by India and Ghana, continually monitor the approaches to the Blue Line through observation and patrolling from 21 military positions close to the Blue Line supported by 19 intermediate and depth positions.

With regard to the situation in southern Lebanon, the past two months have been relatively calm along the Blue Line.

If I may turn to south Lebanon, we are pleased to note the overall calm that seems to have prevailed along the Blue Line for some time now.

These circumstances make it possible for Hizbollah forces to be visible close to the Blue Line, to maintain posts that are sometimes immediately adjacent to IDF and UNIFIL positions and, at times, to carry out attacks across the Blue Line.

But the short story is If you're a patient, you want to be on the blue line.

He called on all parties to cease such violations and ensure total calm along the Blue Line.

It is the responsibility of the parties to take the necessary measures to ensure respect for the Blue Line in its entirety and to prevent all violations.

Israel continues on a nearly daily basis to violate the Blue Line and to violate Lebanon's sovereignty, including through violations of its airspace by Israeli warplanes.

In a few instances, IDF fired small and medium arms fire across the Blue Line, mainly in the Shab'a farms area.

We call again on the Israeli authorities to halt those overflights and on all parties to respect the Blue Line in its entirety.

The members of the Council reiterated their call on the parties to fulfil the commitments they have made to respect in its entirety the Blue Line and to exercise the utmost restraint.

There were no instances of Hizbollah anti aircraft fire across the Blue Line during the reporting period.

Also over the past two weeks, there have been a substantial number of daily ground violations by Lebanese shepherds and civilians along the length of the Blue Line.

The incidents along the Blue Line of 29 June and 12 July illustrate once again the need for the Government of Lebanon to make every effort to prevent attacks from its side of the Blue Line.

Gravely concerned at the persistence of tension and violence along the Blue Line,

On 21 May, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) opened small arms fire to warn off Lebanese shepherds who had violated the Blue Line in the Shaba'a farms area.

However, on 11 April, Hizbollah launched, for the second time, an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, across the Blue Line, violating Israeli airspace.

The rockets were located about one and a half kilometres from the Blue Line, ready to be fired and aimed in the direction of Israeli territory.

We have also continued to emphasize the pressing need for the Lebanese Government to exert control over the use of force throughout its entire territory and to prevent attacks from Lebanon across the Blue Line.

Lastly, on 21 May, IDF opened small arms fire to ward off Lebanese shepherds who violated the Blue Line in the Shab'a farms area.

With respect to the situation along the Blue Line, my delegation reiterates its call on both sides for restraint and full compliance with the relevant Security Council resolutions.

I emphasize the pressing need for the Government to exert control over the use of force throughout its entire territory and to prevent attacks from Lebanon across the Blue Line.

The blue line began a few miles to the south of Zaknuniya (which was included in the sancak), directly south up to the Rub al Khali (Article 11).

My delegation is gravely concerned at the persistence of tensions, hostile rhetoric and skirmishes some with deadly consequences which characterize the situation along the Blue Line.
