Activities of the United Nations Communications Group in 2004

Since its creation three years ago, the United Nations Communications Group has emerged as a strong unifying platform for United Nations communicators.

In a users' survey conducted by the Evaluation and Communications Research Unit of the Department of Public Information, United Nations Communications Group members agreed that the Group was an effective coordination tool.

It will implement those strategies in coordination with the United Nations Communications Group and the United Nations system as a whole.

UNICEF also plays a lead role in the Inter agency Telecommunication Group, sharing information on telecommunications particularly in emergencies, procurement and other best practices.

It was actively involved in regional cooperative endeavours and, at the international level, had been a leader of the action team on space based communication services.
