A government response to the final recommendations of the steering group and an implementation plan are being prepared in 2004.

Taking into account Agenda 21 and the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development ( Johannesburg Plan of Implementation ),

Reaffirming Agenda 21 and the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development ( Johannesburg Plan of Implementation'),

Emphasizing the importance of establishing a partnership, upon the request and with the leadership of the country concerned, involving donor countries and regional and international financial institutions as well as the private sector and civil society, to support the respective national rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes of the affected countries,

Environmental protection measures, as laid down in goal 7 of the Millennium Development Goals and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation, should be taken seriously.

This programme supports the implementation of the integrated water resources management component of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation within the framework of the Water for Life Decade.

The Johannesburg Plan of Implementation recognized that fundamental changes in the way societies produce and consume are indispensable for achieving global sustainable development.

Recalling the need to enhance the provisions of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation concerning support for capacity building in developing countries and countries with economies in transition,

Reaffirming Agenda 21, the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development ( Johannesburg Plan of Implementation ) and the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005 2015,

Recalling also the Monterrey Consensus of the International Conference on Financing for Development, which underlined that fighting corruption at all levels is a priority, and the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development ( Johannesburg Plan of Implementation'),

Countries are committed to achieving the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation target on sanitation, which supplements the Millennium Development Goal target on access to drinking water.

Reaffirming Agenda 21, the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development ( Johannesburg Plan of Implementation ) and the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005 2015,

Recalling that the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation designated the Commission to serve as the focal point for discussion on partnerships that promote sustainable development and contribute to the implementation of intergovernmental commitments in Agenda 21, the Programme for the Further Implementation of Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation,

A major output of the high level segment was the Ministerial declaration and message from the United Nations Forum on Forests to the World Summit on Sustainable Development.7 It became the basis of the section on forests and sustainable forest management in the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development.8

(e) To increase the reliability and availability of appropriate disaster related information to the public and disaster management agencies in all regions, as set out in the relevant provisions of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation

6. Calls upon Governments to take further action to mobilize the provision of financial resources, technology transfer, capacity building and the diffusion of environmentally sound technologies, as set out in the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation

(b) To enhance private investment, transfer of technologies and capacity building to developing countries, as called for in the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation, taking into account their own energy needs and priorities

Following from Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation, the sections dealing with energy, climate change and air pollution call for numerous actions focused on science and technology.

(b) Supporting the regional implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, in particular the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation, focusing on sustainable development of energy and water resources as well as environmental protection and management

The programmes identified by the joint assessment mission would have to be translated into an operational plan, including implementation arrangements such as multi donor trust funds, as stipulated in the wealth sharing agreement.

In order to make implementation easier, recommendations should be specific and time bound.
