The Department's strategic planning through systematic evaluation has been reinforced through cooperation with the Office of Internal Oversight Services.

While one of the main current ECA commitments was to strengthen evaluation, OIOS observed that evaluation and self evaluation activities at subregional offices remain weak.

The budget instructions included forms provided by the Office of Internal Oversight Services regarding resources and evaluation plans to be completed by programme managers.

Self evaluation issues are being actively reviewed at the meetings of the chiefs of programme planning, in which the Office of Internal Oversight Services and the Budget Division are invited to participate.

UNCTAD's work should be supportive of development goals, taking into account commitments undertaken by member States.
