The evaluation function provides analytical, structured and impartial feedback of project programme performance for the purpose of increasing efficiency and effectiveness of UNIDO services, for accountability to management, donors and counterparts and for learning lessons in support to organizational knowledge building.

Compliance by country offices with nationally executed expenditure and the audit requirements of non governmental organizations has also been reflected in the annual performance evaluation of UNFPA representatives.

The report also highlights some of the services provided by UNEP to Member States and other stakeholders at global and sub global levels, including activities in the context of the Bali Strategic Plan for Technology Support and Capacity building.

The process of establishing a culture of evaluation has significantly increased survey activities, which have more than doubled with the introduction of the annual programme impact review (see figure 1).

The evaluation of gender mainstreaming in UNDP was undertaken to identify gaps and further strengthen the UNDP approach to gender mainstreaming.
