This is change in time and change in distance.

In the last video, I said that we started off with the change in distance, so we said that we know the change in distance.

We could have rewritten this as the change in distance is equal to the average velocity times the change in time.

You'll sometimes just see it written as 2 times distance, because we assume that the initial distance is at point 0, so the change in distance would just be the final distance.

We know that I'll write it slightly different this time the change in distance over the change in time is equal to the average velocity.

The reason why I have change in distance here, or change in time, is that I'm not assuming necessarily that we're starting off at the point 0 or at time 0.

We could write it either way, and hopefully, at this point, you see why I keep switching between change in distance and distance.

So it would be that distance plus that distance plus that distance plus that distance.

At this rate of change, with the blank space separating the images, there's no real motion perceptible.

This magenta distance minus this light blue distance.

This distance squared plus this distance squared is going to equal that distance squared.

In this circumstance, what does distance represent?

So if this distance is the same as this distance, then the magenta distance minus this blue distance is going to be equal to this green distance.

This distance is the same distance as this distance right there.

You figure out this distance, which is our change in x, this distance, which is our change in y.

So that distance is the same as that distance.

This distance is the distance squared.

This distance is going to be equal to that distance.

That this distance plus this distance over here, is going to be equal to some constant number.

This distance right here is 3, this distance right here is 3, this distance right here is 2, this distance right here is 2.

And we learned that the focus, the focal distance or the distance from the central of the ellipse, which is this distance right here that focal distance is just the square root of the difference of these two numbers.

Velocity really is just distance divided by time, or actually, change in distance divided by times change in time or, change in distance divided by change in times is velocity.

This is actually right, because this formula is actually the change in distance.

And so if this is at distance 0, we could call this distance out here distance d.

The absolute value is really just the distance of x from 0. distance from 0

But this distance on the left hand side is the same as this distance right here this is also 4 centimeters.

So we've figured out that if you take this distance right here and add it to this distance right here, it'll be equal to 2a.

It's actually trying to minimize the distance, the square of the distance, between each of these points in the line.

Ignore changes in whitespace

This is the distance in question.

This distance right over is 12 5 and this distance over here is also 12 5

So this distance right here is going to be 5, and so will this distance.
