President Kibaki It gives me great pleasure to address the General Assembly on the occasion of my first visit to the United Nations as head of State.

It is my great pleasure to be here today to share with the Assembly the progress and the steps taken so far in Timor Leste to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

As the meeting ended, Saif invited me to Libya and I said more out of politeness than anything else that I would be happy to come.

This process of discovery is a wonderful adventure to be involved in.

Ms. Jusufaj (Albania) It gives me great pleasure to introduce to the General Assembly the reports of the First Committee on agenda items 85 to 105 and 116.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Chien (Viet Nam) It gives the Vietnamese delegation great pleasure to participate in today's discussion on the important agenda item on the question of Palestine.

It is a source of pride that many Colombians have left their mark on the Organization.

Judge Møse It is an honour to address the members of the Security Council to present an updated version of the completion strategy of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), submitted to the Council on 5 December 2005.

I am also pleased to hear that the Government of Uganda today repeated that a negotiated outcome is still on the table for northern Uganda, as was expressed by the Permanent Representative.

Mr. Ganiev (Uzbekistan) (spoke in Russian) It is with great satisfaction that, on behalf of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at this anniversary session of the General Assembly, I greet leaders and other representatives and wish them all success in the work of this session.

As I said, it is too early to celebrate.

It is a great pleasure for me to address this Committee once again to report on the progress and developments in the spheres of chemical disarmament and non proliferation and international cooperation, and on the activities carried out in implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

Mr. Lim (Singapore) It gives me great pleasure to participate in this meeting of the General Assembly devoted to a discussion of youth issues, and particularly to an evaluation of progress made in implementing the World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond.

It is a privilege for India to be a partner in the path that Afghanistan has chosen, so I come back with a great sense of satisfaction that our two countries are working hand in hand to accelerate the tempo of social and economic development and to strengthen the democratic foundations of the polity of Afghanistan.

My delegation welcomes the information that Liberia has submitted a letter to the President of the General Assembly requesting an exemption under Article 19 of the Charter, and it is my pleasure to announce that Liberia has also joined the list of sponsors of the draft resolution.

Queen Rania sets the standard for breaking down stereotypes and her YouTube videos are nothing short of inspirational, Al Arabiya quoted YouTube co founder Chad Hurley as saying. It is both a pleasure and an honor to present her with this much deserved tribute.

Mr. Atsou (Togo) (spoke in French) It is an honour for me to speak on behalf of roughly half of the five million inhabitants of Togo, who are young people, in order to convey to the General Assembly the efforts Togo has made to implement the World Programme of Action for Youth.

And so I sure am glad I did not slow down to talk to her.

I am glad that the Kyoto Protocol has now entered into force, albeit three years after the deadline set by the Millennium Declaration, but I also note that it extends only until 2012 and that some major emitters of carbon remain outside it.

Mr. Hamidon (Malaysia) First and foremost, I have the pleasure to convey, on behalf of my delegation, our heartiest congratulations to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its Director General, Mr. Mohamed ElBaradei, on the outstanding achievement of being awarded the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize.

It is helpful to review where the world economy now stands.
