Belarus is not a donor country, but we, too, are doing what we can to help.

We prefer to take the lead and do what we can to improve our conditions.

As we are all making our best efforts to reform the United Nations, we certainly welcome the increased openness and transparency in the selection process, and we are encouraged by the Secretary General's efforts towards that commendable trend.

It is worth our while to make further efforts next year.

In the meantime, we are doing our utmost through our good offices to help steer the process towards prudent conflict management.

It was, he said, to go after the bad guys, to make sure we do our very best to interrupt them, to kill them, to take them out of the picture.

That is undoubtedly a situation none of us would wish to see and that we must try our utmost to avoid.

Yet not nearly enough is being done to treat or prevent it.

We need to develop joint efforts to extirpate those shameful phenomena.

We must do what we can at the United Nations and in our respective countries to influence policies and actions for youth so that they will be truly beneficial to us.

We should try to do our best to prevent the events of March 2004 from being repeated, or even attempted.

The Millennium Development Goals are achievable, so long as we all make efforts and concessions.

These will be continuously monitored and every effort will be made to resolve difficulties.

However, we believe that we must do our utmost, collectively and in a concerted way, to save human lives everywhere and in all circumstances where this is required.

In the face of that situation, we in the OIC are making every effort to deal with that reality in the interests of global harmony and peace.

We should do everything in our power to avoid radicalization, to interrupt radicalization processes early, and to guide radicalized individuals back into our society and to acceptance of our values.

Let me pledge today that we will do everything in our power to ensure that the United Nations will be a lean, fit and energetic Organization for the twenty first century.

Maximum efforts must be made to reduce the level of UNIDO's regular budget.

Every effort would be made to accommodate these requirements within the appropriation for the biennium.

Likewise, we pledge to make all efforts to ensure sustained economic development, to increase the welfare of our citizens and to improve socio economic indicators, including the achievement of the MDGs.

In this respect, participants in the Mauritius meeting resolved that every effort had to be made to ensure the full implementation of the Convention.

Some have striven to integrate the Agenda 21 into their national economic and social development plan (e.g. Thailand).

Given this recognition and remorse, we Japanese have believed for decades that we must do all that we can to contribute to Asia s development. We must spare no effort in working for the region s peace and prosperity.

Here's the thing, if we have goals and dreams, and we want to do our best, and if we love people and we don't want to hurt them or lose them, we should feel pain when things go wrong.

The key is to have undertaken this effort and to support it.

But we must do more than read and sign the petition. We must recognize that today s movement to ensure children s rights is the civil rights struggle of our generation and do whatever it takes to support it.

We know that more will have to be done to achieve the commitments of Monterrey and to reach the target of 0.7 per cent of gross national income in official development assistance (ODA).

What is needed is not rhetoric, but levelheaded efforts to find practical and forward looking solutions to key issues on which regional and international cooperation is urgently required.

We are making every effort to ensure our own sustainable development.

Therefore, I strongly appeal to all of us to undertake renewed efforts to fulfil our responsibility.
