The Quality of Mercy

This is not the same as compassion, but it's conducive to compassion. It opens the channels for compassion.

Be ruthless.

For 40 years, compassion in politics receded.

Mercy to you and peace and love be multiplied.

Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

Mercy and truth are met together righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.

Mercy and truth preserve the king and his throne is upholden by mercy.

And because God Himself said that the primary attribute of his is compassion in fact, the Koran says that God decreed upon himself compassion, or, reigned himself in by compassion therefore, our objective and our mission must be to be sources of compassion, activators of compassion, actors of compassion and speakers of compassion and doers of compassion.

I would just sum up the way things look, at least from this secular perspective, as far as compassion and the golden rule go, by saying that it's good news that compassion and the golden rule are in some sense built into human nature.

Yahweh appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

His contributions include the interpretation of scientific research into the roots of compassion, altruism, and peaceful human relationships.

Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness, for you reward every man according to his work.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

But what I've come to learn is that the world is never saved in grand messianic gestures, but in the simple accumulation of gentle, soft, almost invisible acts of compassion, everyday acts of compassion.

Israel, hope in Yahweh, for with Yahweh there is loving kindness. With him is abundant redemption.

Don't they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

Let Israel hope in the LORD for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.

Therefore turn thou to thy God keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
