The World Climate Research Programme, initiated jointly by WMO and ICSU, has a significant Antarctic component.

The United Republic of Tanzania's network consists of 24 full meteorological stations, 8 atmospheric chemistry, 13 agro meteorological, and 110 climate stations and about 1,400 rainfall stations.

The Meeting noted that agrometeorology was assisting those engaged in efforts to improve food security. The Meeting also noted the strengthened cooperation between WFP and WMO in the area of agrometeorology.

At the request of the Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Unit also carried out in 2004 a confidential review of the adequacy of internal controls at that organization.
